In the fight against the disaster, there are always many ordinary people who stand up and become great civilian heroes because they are needed.
“I’m not a hero, I’m just needed,” netizens make this caption as the hottest topic on the Sina Weibo social media platform, as the Chinese version of Twitter, to honour the memory of the Doctor Wenliang Li. He was the first man trying to warn his colleague about the disease but has sacrificed in this emergency situation.
As a matter of fact, no one can predict how severe of both the challenges and the crises to all Chinese now.
When the holiday of the Spring Festival draws near, many special purchases are arranged to greet the coming festival, all Chinese people are busy buying necessities and preparing New Year foods, immersed in a festive atmosphere. However, the advent of a deadly virus upsets all the plans.
The new coronavirus, provisionally named Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia (NCP) has infected 37,288 people and 813 deaths in China and 24 countries worldwide have confirmed cases so far, Chinese Health Bureau update online February 9.
“I am declaring a public health emergency of international concern over the global outbreak of novel coronavirus,” Ghebreyesus delivers the announcement on a news conference.
Doctor Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, as the Director-General of World Health Organization (WHO) defines the novel coronavirus constitutes “a global health emergency” which has “escalated into an unprecedented outbreak”.
During the declaration, he also encourages “international public health partners to act together now to limit the deadly disease spread across the globe,” says Ghebreyesus. “We must remember that these are people, not numbers.”
According to the first edition report of this novel coronavirus case, possibly the virus originated from Huanan seafood wholesale market, in Wuhan, Health Commission of Hubei Province published via Sina Weibo social media platform.
“This target market sells live and newly slaughtered wildlife animals privately, and of course, each animal can be the pathogen,” Chunliang Li says, of China Wildlife Conservation Association.
As a health expert and one of the members in the wildlife authority organisation, he has ordered immediately to close the market and ban to sale wild animals in the Hubei Province.
“The new coronavirus is a new strain that has not been identified in humans before, possibly originated from bats, and the hosts infected other wildlife animals, which also transmitted the virus to mammals, inevitably humans.”
Chinese and the authority government seem not to have been paid attention on the serious of this epidemic until the middle of January.
The death roll and number of confirmed cases continuously to grow, all of a sudden, outbreaking from Wuhan to be extending to all other parts of China.
“It has highly infectious power that can transmit human-to-human,” Nanshan Zhong says in an interview with state broadcaster CCTV.
Nanshan Zhong, who is the leader of China’s State Committee on Health and the most senior epidemiologist convinced for his responsibility in fighting SARS in 2003, states his findings of the NCP.
“It’s time to value this infection and isolate at home in the midst of the Spring festival is both the best detection and precaution.”
Following Dr. Zhong, Chinese citizens realize the power of this infection and Chinese government locks down the city through closing the public transport and rules that the biggest contribution all Chinese people can do at this difficult moment is to stay at home.
“I’ve never thought that I would wear the same pajamas all holiday,” says Judy Xu, as a citizen of Wuhan.
Her uncombed hair and the messy room shows that she has stayed at home for a period of time.
“Can you imagine I haven’t gone out for ten days! At the beginning of this year, I made my plan for this year. However, after this disease happened, I just want to be alive and stay at home.” She says in a disappointed tone.
Judy is only one example of all Chinese, especially in Wuhan. The city is frozen in emergency lockdown situation because of the virus infection.
“I will follow this rule and listen to Dr. Zhong, hoping our country can pull through the difficulties and go back as soon as possible to former routines.”
Wuhan, without the prosperity of the past, everyone stays at home to keep away from others, only can see supervisors and sanitation workers on the road .
However, the early lack of attention make the coronavirus results in a sharp increase in infection rates.
In the latest news of the confirmed case, a Chinese newborn has been verified with the novel coronavirus just 30 hours after birth, as the youngest case.
Chinese scientists and government are in a race against time and doing everything they can to control the outbreak in a high-speed level.
The Chinese scientists have the knowledge to conduct epidemiological investigations genetically and correctly identified the new germs in early January. Moreover, experts hold press conferences regularly to report the new discoveries and use the social media platform keep uploading the latest information to the up level as a strategy to relieve Chinese worried and anxious.
At the same time, Chines government gains the experience of SARS coronavirus in 2003 and orders the construction of two new makeshift hospital which have the ability to accommodate 1000 beds for quarantine. Chinese workers show the capacity to build the hospitals in only 10 days.
“I will donate all my money to do something and for nothing in return,” Mingliang Luo says, a worker joins in this project.
Because of continuous working long hours, Mr. Luo looks too tired that even cannot feel joyful after received his salary of full participation in the completion.
“I’m lack education and don’t understand these big theories, but at present my country is trapped,” he says. “Compare with the front-line medical workers, I am nothing worth mentioning.”
So, “Who are the heroes?”
These front-line medical doctors who save the patients from the disease are the heroes; These bosses who deliver the free meals and supplies to the supervisors and sanitation workers are the heroes; These ordinary citizens who just leave a hundred of face masks to the police and goes away in a hurry are the heroes; These unknown bottom-class people who donate all their savings for the country contribution are the heroes…
Indeed, there are lots of tiny examples of these ordinary people who tries to do kindness in its own way for this country. Because of needed, they become the genuine heroes to protect the society.
All Chinese are united now to fight against the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak, also, Chinese scientists have some new findings and positive reports.
Common signals of the infection are fever, cough, difficult breathing and shortness of breath which can cause respiratory symptoms and pneumonia and the worst of death.
The latest finding shows that the virus not only can transmit through human contact, but also has the ability to combine with the air particulate matter then infect via respiratory system.
Chinese experts highlight that it is really important to wear face masks outdoors and wash hands regularly also properly. In addition, do more exercise to strengthen the immune system, have a good air flow and avoid going to crowed places are some good ways to help people stay away from catching any infections.
“Fortunately, the rate of the confirmed cases is decreasing in the recent days. The cure rate is much higher than the fatality rate. We have discovered a few medicines but need to test at first” Chinese scientists reports in the official newspaper People’s Daily.
At the center of what people believes, human is the leader of natural. However, when we are trying to challenge the natural, of tasting wildlife animals. The natural will warn us through the disease.
After Australian bushfire, Turkish earthquake, Chinese coronavirus and other disasters, it seems like the beginning of year 2020 is a bit hard. It is time to arouse attention of all human in the world to care about the nature, the issue of global warming and the earth where we live.
For Chinese, the first and simplest way to prevent such terrible infection diseases is say no to wildlife animals, stay away from their habitats .
At this stage, the scientists and doctors from all over the China hasten to the relief of Wuhan, to save lives and fight with the virus.
All Chinese should honor the sincere heroes, because of their bravery and dedication.
Love and hope will conquer the virus. For sure, Spring will come eventually.
Come on, Wuhan! Get well soon, China!
